昨天我访问了一位相识, 浮现了她有新宠物猫儿。总的来说，那只截尾的猫儿不像很友好的，可是他一看到我，大声讲了很多貌性然的话。相识以为，“不平常的，他普通的不会跟不认识的人讲话。” 我告诉她了：“是因为我是佛家，戒肉。要是你吃肉，引发动物的害怕，这是佛法的学说。” 她大眼睛的凝视我。“真的了！” 我回答了。她瞬瞬的看我、望貌。 那只貌儿还是在强烈地望我。 想到了两位动物都很可笑。

你愿不愿意知道那只猫所讲的是什么？ 好，没有什么关系了。你到了我的站，以为你要听点儿我讲的话。那只貌儿以为的是： “嘿！不客气的大笨动物了！谁要你侵害别人的草皮？ 你前世犯的罪那么重，在现世仅仅的有两条腿，绝对地不是从我缺点而来的！不要把自己的恶点方在我的身上！” 连不提到我没说一声音。告诉你了，我的相识所得到的小宠物猫儿到底存在了一只很有意见的人物。

不过，我以为在这种被污染的世界上，任何的回事要这样。被压迫的有情，压迫的不敢说话，然后遇到了究竟不感觉压迫的情况，一直要发现替罪羊。 半点怨恨也没有的替罪羊异名为菩萨。

Yesterday I visited an acquaintance, and it emerged that she had a new pet cat. Overall, that bob-tailed cat didn’t seem very friendly, but as soon as he caught sight of me, he very insistently spoke a lot of cat-talk. My acquaintance opined, “This is unusual, he usually won’t talk to strangers.” I told her, “That’s because I’m a Buddhist, and I don’t eat meat. If you eat meat, it induces terror in animals. That’s Buddhist doctrine.” She stared at me with big eyes. “It’s true!” I told her. She was looking back and forth from me to the cat from one moment to the next. That cat was still staring at me intensely. I arrived at the idea that both animals were pretty funny.

Do you want to know what that cat was talking about or not? That’s OK, it doesn’t make any difference at all. I think that if you come to my site, you can listen to some of what I have to say. What that cat opined was: “Hey! Big stupid animal! Who asked you to invade their turf? That your crimes in your former lives were so heavy that in this life you only have two legs is not my fault! Don’t attribute your own shortcomings to me.” Don’t even mention that I hadn’t said a word. I’m telling you, that cat that my acquaintance had gotten ahold of was proving to be a very opinionated personality.

However, I think that in this polluted world, everything is just like this. When beings have been oppressed to the point that they don’t dare to speak, and then later arrive at circumstances where they don’t feel oppressed, the first thing they do is to find scapegoats. A scapegoat who doesn’t have a single speck of resentment is also called a Bodhisattva.

可是，在今天特别的感恩节，我最感恩的发展真真正正的是本宗派的佛光山取得了一位很理解正传佛法、还是代表现代中国大陆所引发的新佛教大乘革命的方丈, 就是说新担任休斯敦中美寺者，隆相法师。

I’m thankful that Shakyamuni Buddha descended from Tushita Heaven to speak correct Dharma to us. I’m thankful for Medicine Master Crystal Radiance Tathagata’s twelve vows. I’m thankful that I live in Hawii, America’s most Buddhist state. I’m thankful that I live on Oahu, the island in the Hawaiian archipelago that has the most Buddhist sects. I’m thankful that I live on the North Shore, Oahu’s most beautiful area. I’m thankful for all the Buddhist lineages that I’ve participated in, but must especially Fo Guang Shan Center, Guan Yin Temple in Chinatown, and the (Japanese) Haleiwa Jodo Mission.

But on this particular Thanksgiving Day, the development I’m really, really most thankful for is that my root lineage, Fo Guang Shan, has acquired an Abbot who understands the orthodox transmission of the Buddhadharma, and who represents the new Mahayana Revolution that has been fomented in our times on the Chinese mainland, namely, the new Abbot in charge at Zhongmei Temple in Houston, Longxiang Fashi.

这个行为不可以名为印度教的话，我真不知道什么可以如此而名。

If this behavior can’t be called Hinduism, I really don’t know what could be so called.

At present the Vice-Chairman of the Chinese Buddhist Association and President of the Jiangsu Province Buddhist Association, the elder (monk) Mingxue is serving as the President. 三论宗是中国佛教八大宗派之一，是中国佛教八大宗派中为最早创立的一个宗派。在印度称为“中观”学派，主要以弘传龙树、提婆的中观思想而得名，传入中国以后，以《中论》、《百论》、《十二门论》三部论立名成为三论宗。其主要思想是阐述般若思想，因此也有说是“般若宗”，由于船若思想是讲“性空”之理论，所以也称为“性空宗”。

The Three Treatises School is one of the eight great Buddhist schools of China, and it was the earliest of the eight great schools of China to be established. In India it was called the “Madhyamaka ” School, and it became prominent by its emphasis on the propagation and transmission of the Madhyamaka philosophy of Nagarjuna and Aryadeva. When it was transmitted to China it was named the Three Treatises Lineage after the “Treatise on the Middle Way,” the “One Hundred Verse Treatise,” and the “Treatise of the Twelve Gates,” those three commentaries. …

An Abbot whose brain-bag contains something is hard to encounter (a double entendre from the scripture-opening verse). I think that Madhyamaka is my favorite Buddhist philosophy. For me, Nagarjuna is a huge cultural hero.

中美寺新任住持隆相和尚，1982年7月于武汉市归元寺出家，现为南京栖霞古寺住持，也担任佛光山系之宜兴大觉寺住持，其佛学素养深厚，广受佛教界推崇，隆相法师于10多年前往台湾佛光山，礼星云大师座下成为法子，典礼上 (休斯敦佛光山中美寺, 2009年11月15号），大师赞扬隆相法师为“正派的和尚”。　

Fo Guang Shan’s press release, which has still not been released to the English-language media,says:

Longxiang Fashi, who is taking charge of Fo Guang Shan’s Zhongmei (Central America) Temple in Houston, left home as a monk in July of 1982 at Yinyuan Temple in the ‎of Wuhan, and emerged as the Abbot of ancient Qixia Temple in Nanjing. He also became the Abbot of the Fo Guang Shan organization’s temple at Yixing (at Ven. Xing Yun’s birthplace in Jiangsu Province – groomy, groomy, groomy, don’t you know?), his Buddhist study and accomplishments are awesome, and he has been virtually canonized by the Buddhist world. Last month, my primary care physician at the VA, in the midst of a routine examination, discovered a suspicious lesion on my upper back and said, “It looks like basal cell cancer. We’ll have a specialist look at it.” I long knew there was some problem going on there, but I couldn’t see it, even in the mirror. On the basis of his referral, yesterday I saw a very felicitous dermatologist. As soon as he looked at it he stated very definitely, “I’ve got it. It’s basal cell cancer. I’m going to cut it off immediately.” Sitting there on the examination table, I looked sideways at the nurse who was standing to the doctor’s left, wearing light green scrubs and a surgical mask, and carrying a clipboard. Clearly, if the doctor wanted to operate, she would not object. But her two opaque eyeballs above her mask were unreadable. At the same time, that unusually loquacious doctor was continuing, “You should know, that If you must have cancer, basal cell cancer is your best choice…” Being demeaned by having contracted cancer, and trapped on top of the examination table, all I could do was nod my head. In my heart I was thinking, “If I oppose this kind of doctor, I’ll probably be changed into something like that zombie-esque nurse!” Simultaneously, the doctor had gradually changed his position until he was directly between me and the nurse. “I have a different idea. On the basis of my clinical experience this is certainly basal cell cancer. If we take a biopsy and then wait for laboratory results, and then see you again, this just wastes time and money. I want to both get a sample for a biopsy, and also remove the tumor in this appointment, OK?”

In reality, I couldn’t oppose the attitude displayed by this doctor. Thirty years previously, I had already had an incidence of a basal cell tumor on my face. The current case was much safer than that one. But cancer is still cancer. Basal cell cancer can be neither ignored nor procrastinated about. Once you recieve this diagnosis, you must act immediately. Under these kinds of circumstances, a pro-active doctor is your best friend. So naturally I agreed, saying, “Two doctors have already looked at this and said that it’s basal cell cancer. I can’t object.” The doctor then very pointedly turned to the nurse and emphatically said: “Clinically obvious basal cell cancer.” Ten minutes later, he had already finished operating. You ought to know that among us fast-knived martial artists, this kind of small tumor is not a big thing.

I think that this minor illness, like First Lady Laura Bush’s incident of 2006, started with an insect bite.
